Description
94 High Street is an office building that was constructed in the early 15th century as a shop with a solar above. It has two storeys and features a timber-framed structure with a gable front. The upper floor juts out towards the street, supported on knees. The exterior displays exposed close-studwork with plastered infill panels. The roof is covered with plain tiles and has an external chimney on the side.
The building includes 19th-century mullioned and transomed casements, along with a boarded entrance door. Beneath the jettied upper floor, the exposed framing reveals evidence of three adjacent windows and a narrow doorway, each originally featuring moulded heads and jambs, and previously having a four-centred arched head. The studwork is fully tension-braced, and the plain crownpost roof was temporarily exposed during alterations at the time of the survey. Additionally, a small lean-to extension was added to the right side in the 19th century.
