Description
Moat Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century, with a 1.5-storey dairy addition from the 18th century on the left. The building is timber framed and plastered, topped with a roof of glazed black pantiles. It has two storeys and an attic, featuring four windows with mullion and transom casements. The two right-hand bays have five-light windows, with the first-floor windows being original. The entrance door is half-glazed but damaged. The chimney stacks are located against the rear wall, with two original stacks featuring sawtooth shafts and one later addition. Inside, the two main ground floor rooms and one first-floor room have ovolo-moulded cross-beamed ceilings. The original dog-leg staircase has two flights, with newel posts that display various designs of finial. There is some close studding and many original internal doors. The roof remains intact, featuring butt and clasped purlins along with arched wind-bracing.
