Description
This is a 17th-century barn located 20 meters north-west of White House Farmhouse, with some later alterations. The barn is aligned north-east to south-west and consists of four bays. It features a gabled porch on the north side, positioned at the second bay from the east. The structure is timber-framed, primarily covered with weatherboarding, and includes some 18th-century herringbone pargetted plaster. The roof is made of sheet asbestos, which was formerly thatched. On the south side, there are four boarded barn doors from the 19th century. The framing shows several periods, with the earliest bay on the right possibly dating to the late 16th century, featuring full-height studwork and tension stud bracing. The left side has later framing that includes a middle rail. The barn contains some arch-braced open trusses, although most of the braces have been replaced with 19th-century knees. The roof has clasped purlins.
