Description
Elmtree Farmhouse is a 16th-century farmhouse that features a raised structure and a shallow-pitched roof added in the 19th century. The building is timber framed and plastered, topped with a slated roof, and consists of two storeys in a three-cell, cross-entry layout. The fenestration is scattered, primarily consisting of 20th-century casements with diamond-leaded glass, along with two original cavetto mullioned windows. Additional original windows can be found in the left gable end and at the rear, with more visible from the interior. A lean-to porch includes a mid-20th-century side entrance door. The farmhouse has an internal stack and a 19th-century external stack on the right. The timber frame is of good quality, with much of it exposed inside, featuring reversed and tension bracing. The hall contains an open fireplace with stone jambs and an original arched lintel. Both the hall and parlour have ceilings with chamfered joists and storey posts that have shaped heads.
