Description
Birch and Billingford Memorials are a pair of identical chest tombs located about 5 to 10 metres northwest of the Church of St. Mary. The tomb furthest from the church is dedicated to J. Birch, who died in 1793, while the one closer to the church is also from the late 18th century but reuses a cap stone belonging to R. Billingford, who died in 1739. Both tombs are made of ashlar and feature moulded bases and cappings. The cap stones are inscribed, with the earlier one having a cyma moulded design. Each tomb has sides measuring 2 by 1, with raised fielded panels that have quadrant indented corners, and they are adorned with fluted pilasters.
