Description
Sloe Farmhouse is an early 17th-century farmhouse with a three-cell lobby-entrance plan. It has two storeys and attics, constructed from timber framing and plaster, and features a pantiled roof that was once thatched. The house has an axial 17th-century chimney made of red brick and another chimney from the 19th century. Mid-20th century casement windows have been added, along with a mid-20th century glazed pantiled lean-to entrance porch that includes a half-glazed panelled door. Some of the timber framing is partially exposed, and the floor joists are unchamfered and large for the period. The structure includes tension stud-braced close studding and a clasped purlin roof. Inside, there is a lintelled open fireplace in the hall and an arched fireplace in the parlour, both of which have been restored. Additionally, there is an original rear one-storey bakehouse wing featuring an open arch-braced truss, with a later addition of a first floor that has on-edge joists.
