Description
Stoke Farmhouse is a former farmhouse dating from around 1600, with a lower range likely originating from the 16th century. The building has two storeys and one storey with attics, constructed of timber framing and roughcast. The roofs, originally thatched, are now covered with pantiles. There is an axial chimney made of red brick from around 1600, featuring a sawtooth shaft. The windows are mainly small-pane casements that were installed around 1980. The entrance door is glazed and is sheltered by a pantiled lean-to porch supported by posts.
The two-storey wing consists of two cells, with some unchamfered floor joists and a robust clasped-purlin roof. A fireplace lintel, believed to have been removed from a partition wall around 1980, features rich vinescroll carving typical of the mid-16th century. Additionally, a small section of a plain crownpost roof from the 16th century remains in the lower range, while most of the framing is concealed.
