Description
The inn sign located 10 meters east of The Five Bells Inn is a brick pier dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century. It is believed to be one of four that once marked the entrance to a drive leading to the now-demolished Hesset Hall, which was taken down in the 18th century. This structure is made of red brick, featuring a pattern of burnt headers on each face. It measures approximately 0.6 meters square and stands about 4 meters high. The plinth rises to about 1.5 meters and includes a moulded brick cornice and a weathered offset. At the top, there is an additional cornice and a flat lead capping. A wrought iron frame with a scrolled crown supports the inn sign.
