Description

Alder Carr Lodge is an early 19th-century lodge built as an entrance to Eye Park. It is constructed of red brick, which was later rendered and painted white. The roof is covered in black-glazed pantiles. The lodge is a single storey and has a five-window front, including three windows illuminating a central projecting bow. The bow features a single-light casement window in the centre, with a two-light Y-traceried casement window on either side. The main walls have similar Y-traceried casement windows to the right and left. The roof is hipped, with deeply projecting eaves that have been developed into a verandah supported by six timber posts. A flat roof covered in felt sits over the central bow. A central ridge stack is present. The south-facing return has one Y-traceried casement window, while the north-facing return has a blind arched recess. The lodge’s construction features stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops.
