Description
The Old Rectory, dating from the early 19th century, is a house constructed of white brick and whitewashed. It features shallow hipped roofs covered with machine tiles and is designed as a three-bay, double-depth block with two storeys. The façade includes pilaster strips flanking the central bay and at the outer ends, with an offset plinth. The central entrance has a step leading up to a six raised panelled door, topped by a traceried semi-circular fanlight. The door is framed by fluted quarter column jambs and a relieving arch with an outer gauged brick arch. The windows are recessed 16-pane sashes with gauged brick flat arched heads, and the eaves are boxed. There are cross axial stacks on the rear roof slope.
To the right of the main house is a service bay that has a blocked round arched entrance and a plain parapet. The rear block extends further to the left, featuring French windows on the left return. At the back, there is an entrance and a large three-light transomed casement window, with two bays to the right and a service bay to the left that projects forward. The interior has not been inspected.
Attached to the service bay and set back around a small yard are stables that have a central segmental headed opening flanked by round headed openings, all with gauged brick arches. In the inner angle, there is a late 19th-century tower with a dogtooth moulded stack. To the right, there is an outbuilding that features a semi-circular fanlight above a door.
