Description
Wretts Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century, with a three-span addition made in the mid-20th century at the rear. The building is timber framed and plastered, designed to imitate ashlar. The roof features slates on the front and mid-20th century clay plain tiles on the rear. It has two storeys and an attic, following a three-cell, lobby entry layout. There are three windows, primarily late 19th century two-light casements, along with two mid-20th century casements on the ground floor. The entrance door is also from the mid-20th century. Inside, there is an internal stack with a rendered shaft that has a pilaster-like projecting centre and remnants of a moulded base. The frame is visible at the first floor level, showcasing plain, widely spaced studs and some arched braces. Both the hall and parlour feature axial bridging beams with nicked stop-chamfers, while the joists are concealed. The roof includes butt and clasped purlins along with straight plank wind bracing. The gable ends were significantly rebuilt in the 19th and 20th centuries.
