Description

White Cottage and Fraisnor are two houses that were originally built as one farmhouse in the mid to late 16th century, with alterations made in the mid 20th century. The building has two storeys and features a three-cell cross-entry plan. It is constructed with a timber frame and roughcast exterior, topped with a plaintiled roof that is hipped at both ends. There is a central 16th-century chimney made of red brick and a 19th-century chimney on the left side. The White House has 20th-century casement windows, while Fraisnor has small-pane plastic casements from around 1980. Both houses have 20th-century boarded doors, with the left-hand door located at the cross-entry position.

Inside, the White House includes the cross-entry and a service cell, with twin service rooms that have been combined. The chamber above extends over the cross-entry, reaching as far as the chimney that backs onto it. The interior features exposed unmoulded 16th-century framing and unchamfered floor joists that are laid flat. Additionally, the house was extended to the left by one bay in the mid 20th century.
