Description

Mere Farm Cottages are a pair of houses dating from the early 17th century or possibly earlier. They are two storeys high and have a three-cell plan, likely featuring a cross-entry. The cottages are constructed with a timber frame and are pebble-dashed, while the east end wall is covered in painted brick. The roof is made of concrete tiles, although it was originally thatched. An axial chimney, built of orange and buff brick, dates back to the early 17th century and has a sunk plastered panel at its base that once displayed a date, along with a truncated sawtooth shaft. The windows are 19th-century casements, and there are two half-glazed panelled entrance doors from the 20th century. The interior has not been examined.
