Description

This is an early 18th-century building, originally a house, later converted into a granary in the 19th century. It is timber frame construction, with some areas plastered and colourwashed, other parts weatherboarded and reconstructed in brick. The roof is covered with corrugated tiles. The building is two stories high and has a two-window front. The north front has a brick ground floor, and a cartshed extends along its entire length. The first floor features a three-light and a five-light mullioned window, partially blocked with ventilating laths. The gabled roof has no chimney stacks. The east gable is weatherboarded above an open cart access, and the south side has an ovolo-moulded mullioned window on the first floor. Inside, there are chamfered bridging and tie beams, along with a butt purlin roof with collars and queen struts. The building is included on the list for its contribution to the wider group value of the Cranley Hall estate.
