Description

This is a long terrace of houses built in the early to mid-19th century on Berners Street’s west side. The houses are constructed of white brick, though some have been painted. They are two storeys high, with attics and sub-basements. Each house features one window range, with double-hung sash windows containing glazing bars set in plain reveals, and stucco lintels. The front doors are panelled with three panels, each topped by a rectangular fanlight. Flights of steps lead to the doors, which are flanked by stucco pilasters and cornices; numbers 69 and 71 have decorative pediments above their doors. The roofs are slate-covered, and the houses are stepped up to follow the slope of the street, with one flat-headed dormer window per house.
