Description
Low Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates back to the 16th century. It has two storeys and attics, featuring a three-cell cross-passage entrance plan. The structure is timber-framed and plastered, with some later sections built in painted brick. The roof is covered with plain tiles and has internal and end chimneys made of red brick. There are various 19th and 20th-century casement windows.
The farmhouse includes a two-storey timber-framed gabled entrance porch from around 1600, which features an early 19th-century four-centred arched doorway with a reeded architrave. The inner entrance door has six panels, with the lower panels being fielded and the upper pair glazed. At the rear of the hall/parlour chimney, there is a gabled stair tower, also dating from around 1600, and the flanking rear outshuts were likely added in the 19th century.
