Description
Manor Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from around 1600, with a core that originates from the 15th century and alterations made in the early 20th century. It features a cross-passage entrance plan and is one storey high with attics. The building is timber-framed and plastered, topped with a plaintiled roof that includes gabled dormers. Both the dormers and the main roof are adorned with richly-carved early 20th-century bargeboards. The internal chimneys are made of red brick, and the windows are mainly early 20th-century oak casements with leaded lights. The entrance door is a recessed plank type.
Inside, a close-studded partition wall in the cross-passage has a pair of service room doorways with 4-centred arched heads typical of the 15th century. There is a panelled cross-passage screen from around 1600. A notable feature is a fine staircase located in a gabled wing at the rear, which dates from the late 16th century and includes moulded newels and balustrading with turned balusters. A two-storey rear service wing was added in the 17th century and features 18th or early 19th-century casements. An external plaster date of 1793 was present until the mid-20th century.
