Description

The pump located in the center of Market Hill, west of The Shire Hall, was erected in 1877. It features a central dwarf fluted Doric column with a wheel and piston action. The canopy is designed in a Gothic style, made of limestone and sandstone, and includes pointed arches, four angle buttresses, and a foliate finial. The platform and circular troughs are all contemporary with the pump. This pump is part of a group of listed buildings surrounding The Shire Hall.
