Description
The Kelsale Social Club, incorporating Corner Cottage, is a building of group value dating from 1891. It was originally built as the Church House Club for Rev. George Irvine Davies. The building is constructed of red brick with a plastered first floor and a pantiled roof. It is designed in an Arts and Crafts style, comprising two interlocking wings set at right angles. The wings have overhanging first floors. Casement windows are fitted with square leaded panes; the west gable features a large six-light first-floor window with a semi-circular arched transom above the two centre lights. A narrow, gabled porch faces Bridge Street, open at ground floor level and having a glazed first floor. A flight of steps leads from the porch to a small overhanging first-floor balcony, with the roof swept over the stairway. An external brick stack is visible on the Bridge Street gable, set diagonally and featuring brick consoles at first-floor level. The Social Club is connected to The Old Guildhall by an earlier brick wing, which forms part of Corner Cottage.
