Description
The lych gate to the Church of St Mary and St Peter was built in 1890 by E.S. Prior for the rector at the time, Rev. George Irving Davies. It features a timber frame set on a stone and flint plinth, topped with a plain tiled roof. Each side of the entrance has uprights with buttresses that are carved to resemble medieval crown posts. A shallow arched tie beam displays the inscription 'Come unto me ye weary and I will give you rest'. The roof has a sweeping curve over the entrance, with a tall pointed section that encloses an empty niche, and a carved fascia board. The rear of the roof is half hipped.
