Description
The Fleece Hotel, located at 8 and 10 St Mary's Street, is an early 17th-century building that stands three stories tall. It features three flush frame sash windows on the first floor, complete with glazing bars and flush frames. The entire front, including an adjoining shop that was originally part of the same structure, displays an upper floor casing of mock half-timber and a ground floor rendered to imitate red brick. The roof is covered with pantiles. The entrance includes a six-panel door set in a wooden case, adorned with Doric half-columns and an unusual bed mould at the cornice. To the left is a wooden shop front. Inside, there is evidence of timber-frame construction, an oak corner cupboard, and original doors. The building is part of a group that includes Nos 6 to 22 (even).
