Description

Elm Tree Farmhouse is a late 16th or early 17th century farmhouse, apparently originally two separate dwellings. The north part of the building has an L-shaped plan and is timber framed with plaster infill, with a brick casing to the west side and a thatched roof. It is a single storey with an attic, and has a two-window west facade featuring casement windows with flat brick arches, a modern glazed door, and one eyebrow dormer, with a gable end stack. To the south is a two-storey addition, timber framed and plastered in panels, with a pantiled roof. The south addition's west facade has a single window range, with three-light casement windows; the ground floor window incorporates some square leaded panes, and there’s a tall internal stack. Inside, a partition is made of oak boards set in grooved and chamfered stiles, mitred to the beam above.
