Description
Barnaby Cottage is a house that was originally built in the early 17th century, with a late 18th century extension at the rear. It has been converted and altered in the late 20th century. The exterior is made of rendered and whitewashed brick, topped with a pantile roof that features three brick stacks—one on the ridge and two on the rear slope.
The front of the house is two stories high with two windows. It has a central 20th century plank door, with a 6/6 horned sash window on either side, and two similar sashes on the first floor. The right gable wall has been altered and is canted back beneath an overhanging weatherboarded gable head. At the rear, the two-story extension includes two plank doors and a mix of window styles, featuring one 6/6 sash and one 12/12 horizontally sliding casement.
Inside, there is a 20th century staircase, and the front ground-floor room retains one early 17th century bridging beam with sunk quadrant mouldings.
