Description

This is a terrace of seven houses located at 8-14 Market Cross Place, Aldeburgh. The terrace dates to the mid-19th century and has undergone later alterations. The houses are constructed of gault brick, with the roof being obscured. They each have seven chimney stacks.

The exterior features three storeys, with each house presenting two bays. The ground floor of each house has a four-panel door, topped with a plain fanlight. These alternate with canted bay windows. The bay windows have single-pane sashes arranged 1/1, 2/2, and 1/1, set within red-brick gauged skewback arches. The first floor has wrought-iron balconies that rise to ogeed corrugated-iron canopies. Tripartite sashes, arranged 1/1, 2/2, and 1/1, are present on the first floor, although the sash window in No.14 was replaced in the late 20th century with uPVC. Red-brick banding defines the level of the second floor. The second-floor windows are also sashes, 2/2 in design, although those of No.14 have been replaced. A red-brick moulded cornice sits below the parapet, which rises at intervals into curvilinear gables.

The interior of the houses has not been inspected.
