Description

Dewells Farmhouse is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from the late 16th century to early 17th century. It is timber framed, rendered, and colourwashed, with a pantile roof that was probably originally thatched.

The entrance front features a gabled porch located to the right of centre, which has a plank doorway. Flanking the porch are three-light 19th-century casement windows. On the first floor, there are three 19th-century casements set within the original window openings. At the ridge, there is a stack with three pots. The right gable end has one three-light ground floor window and curved brackets at the eaves level. The left gable end features a 20th-century window with four by three panes, brackets below the eaves, and a gable that slightly projects at its upper body. To the left of this gable is a 20th-century flat-roofed single-storey wing, which has a single-light casement on the right.

At the rear, the 20th-century wing is on the right, to the left of which is a three-light 20th-century casement and, at the far left, a two-light casement. The first floor has two two-light casements on the left and one three-light window on the right.

Inside, the ground and first floor rooms feature close studding and chamfered beams. The first floor has 16th-century window openings that are fitted with 19th-century casements but still show the original mullion sockets.
