Description
Snipe Farmhouse is a house that was originally a farmhouse, dating from the 16th century, with additions from the 19th and 20th centuries. It is timber framed and has a plain tile roof, which was probably thatched originally. The building has two storeys with an attic.
The entrance front features a projecting 19th-century wing on the right, which has a blank gable end that connects to a 20th-century addition. The left side has 20th-century windows arranged randomly, with rendered walling on the ground floor and brick on the first floor. The axial 16th-century range on the left has close-studded walling on both floors. The ground floor includes a 2-light 19th-century casement window near the centre and a 4-light window with moulded mullions on the far left. There is also a blocked window slightly left of centre. On the first floor, there are two single-light casements and one cross-window. The roof has two skylights and a brick chimney stack on the right, which was rebuilt in the 20th century. Attached to the left is a lean-to porch, and the gable-end walling above it features close studding with reversed braces and brick nogging infill.
On the right side, the gable end of the 16th-century range jetties at the first floor and gable level. The ground floor is rendered and has a sash window with four panes by four panes, while the first floor has close studding with reversed bracing and brick nogging infill, along with a 2-light 20th-century window. The gable also has similar close studding and brick nogging, with a 3-light 20th-century window. Moulded brackets are located below the first floor and gable jetties. The left side features the 19th-century wing with randomly arranged windows.
At the rear, all windows are from the 20th century and are set in rendered walling, including three 3-light and one 2-light casements on the ground floor, and five 2-light casements on the first floor.
