Description

The orangery, located 70 metres west of Orwell Park School, is a ruinous structure dating from the early 19th century and designed in the Classical Style. It consists of five bays, constructed from stuccoed brick with limestone dressings. Each bay features a large semi-circular headed opening, complete with limestone imposts and keystones, which originally held wooden sliding sash windows, except for the central bay that had glazed doors. Ionic pilasters are positioned between each bay and are paired at the corners, with the same design repeated on the splayed side elevation facing the House. Remnants of cast iron console brackets can be seen from the missing five-bay roof, and the entablature with a moulded and dentilled cornice is still intact.
