Description
Nos 28 and 30 on Market Hill are early 17th century buildings that feature a timber frame with roughcast exterior and a coved eaves cornice. The roofs are covered with tiles and slate eaves courses. Each building has three sash windows with glazing bars and flush frames. The shop fronts on the left and right are small paned, with some dating back to the 13th century. The central shop window consists of a pair of French windows flanked by arched windows that also have glazing bars, a radial head, and fan spandrels. No 28 features a shallow bow. The shop doors are panelled, with the upper sections glazed; one retains its original glazing bars, and both have open pediments with triglyphs above pilasters. Inside, there is a massive stop-chamfered beam. All listed buildings in Market Hill form a group around The Shire Hall.
