Description
This building, located 15 meters east-north-east of Merlin House, is a former Baptist chapel that later served as a village hall and is now a builder's workshop. It was constructed in 1821 and features a timber frame with weatherboarding, which was originally tarred. The building has a hipped roof covered with slates and plastered eaves. It is a single-storey structure with a layout of three bays by two bays, showcasing cross windows fitted with hinged boarded shutters. On the south side, there is a six-panel raised and fielded door. The two main doorways were originally located on the north side but are now hidden by a later brick addition. Inside, the plastered walls reveal traces of a former gallery at the south end. The chapel was replaced by a brick-built chapel in Low Road in 1859. This building is an unusual local example of a weatherboarded chapel.
