Description

The Assembly Room, originally the granary of the Crown Hotel, was built in 1852 and is located on the east side of Quay Street. This 18th-century granary has been adapted into an assembly room. It features a two-storey structure with a red brick ground floor and a boarded first floor. The ground floor includes mullion transom casements set beneath gauged flat arches. The entrances are topped with flat hoods supported by shaped brackets. The roof is covered with pantiles. There is a single-storey wing to the east, which was formerly a kiln, constructed of red brick and topped with a pyramidal slate roof that includes a wooden cupola.
