Description
A marble statue of a Roman centaur holding a bronze spear is located 150 meters north of the Church of St. Mary in Somerleyton Park. This statue, created around 1850 by John Thomas for Sir Morton Peto, is positioned at the south end of the lime avenue. It features a concave stone plinth and a square stone base with sunk panels and scaled consoles placed diagonally at the corners. The base is surrounded by cast iron railings. The surrounding park and gardens are recognized in the HBMC County Register of Gardens at Grade II*.
