Description
The Stud House is a farmhouse primarily dating from the 17th century, with a north wing that likely has an older core. It has an L-shaped plan. The north wing features timber framing with a red brick casing and a plain tiled roof. It is two storeys high and has a three-window range, with small pane casements on the ground floor and 20th-century casements with square leaded panes on the first floor, along with a blocked first-floor window. There are two doorways, each with a six-panel door that has the upper two panels glazed. A brick band runs at first-floor level, and there is a moulded brick eaves cornice and an internal stack.
Adjoining the north-east is a former dairy wing, which is timber framed and plastered, with a 19th-century red brick casing on the front and one flat-roofed dormer. The south wing is constructed of red brick with a plain tiled roof, also two storeys and an attic. It features mainly 20th-century windows with square leaded panes, one gabled dormer, and a Dutch gable to the south that has four blocked oval windows, a brick band at both first-floor and eaves levels, and brick coping. There is a gable end stack and an extension to the north-east with a crenellated parapet. Inside, there is a notable 17th-century staircase.
