Description
The Church of St. Michael is a parish church that dates back to the 14th century, featuring a nave and chancel from that period. The square tower, which has diagonal buttresses, and the south porch were added in the 15th century. The church has undergone significant alterations in the 19th century. The nave and chancel are covered in stucco over flint rubble, while the tower is constructed of knapped flint with an ashlar and brick embattled parapet, and the south porch is also made of knapped flint. Most of the windows are from the 15th century, except for the east window, which was replaced in the 20th century. There are Norman doorways in both the nave and chancel, as well as a piscina located on the south wall of the main altar and another piscina in the nave. The font features a 14th-century foot and stem, but the bowl is an octagonal late Norman piece made of Purbeck marble.
