Description
Monksmead The Priory is a house that has been divided into two sections. It likely has a core dating from the late 16th century or early 17th century, which was later divided and remodeled in the late 19th century. The building is timber framed with brick additions and features pargetted render, topped with a plaintile roof. The main range includes two crosswings, one with a gabled roof and the other with a hipped roof, along with two adjoining gabled porches. The house is two storeys high with an attic and has a scattered arrangement of 19th-century casement windows with leaded lights, as well as dormer casements on the garden front. The doors date from the late 19th and 20th centuries. There are multiple brick stacks on the main ridge at the rear and externally on the gabled crosswing. The roof structure consists of double side purlins. The interior of Monksmead has not been inspected.
