Description
The boundary wall and summer house located to the north of Cranmer House in Felixstowe were built in 1885 by Thomas Cotman for the Cobbold family. The structure features red brick with decorative diapering and courses, as well as substantial brick ridge coping. The wall includes octagonal piers at intervals, topped with domed caps and spiral moulded finials, although some of these finials are partly missing. The wall extends from the former main entrance block of Felixstowe College, which is not included in the listing, along Maybush Lane and incorporates a gateway with a wrought-iron gate and brickwork panels on either side adorned with stylised vases of flowers. Further along, the wall turns to border a former walled garden, leading to an octagonal summer house that has a shaped roof and three open sides supported by stone Tuscan columns. The section of the wall beyond the summer house has been partially integrated into 20th-century buildings and is not considered to have special architectural or historic interest.
