Description
The Queen's Head Inn is a public house located on the west side of The Street in Bramfield. The north wing dates from the 16th century, while the south wing is likely from the late 17th century but underwent significant rebuilding in the late 18th century. Both wings were renovated between 1982 and 1983.
The north wing features a timber frame with plaster, some painted brick casing, and a pantiled roof. It is a single storey with an attic, and includes various casement windows, two modern doors, and a dormer under a catslide roof, along with a gable end stack. There is also a lean-to extension that extends forward on the left side.
The south wing is partly constructed from painted brick and partly timber framed with plaster. Its roof has plain tiles on the south side and pantiles on the north side. This wing has two storeys and a three-window range, primarily consisting of casements with segmental arches. The entrance features a four-panel door, and there is a plaster cove eaves cornice along with internal and gable end stacks. The interior has been much altered, but the north wing retains two blocked diamond mullion windows.
