Description

1, 3A and 3 Upper Olland Street is an early 18th-century building that stands two stories tall with an attic. It features one gabled dormer and a front gable on the left side. The structure of No 1 includes an older timber-framed building from the 16th century, of which one fully-moulded beamed and joisted ceiling remains in excellent condition. The exterior is finished in stucco, while the rest is made of red brick with a plaster core cornice and pantiles, along with an interrupted band on the first floor.

There are four windows on the first floor in flush frames, consisting of two sash windows and two mullion transom casements. Additionally, there is a half window on the left and a half panel on the right. The ground floor features segmental arches with stucco keys. The building also has two six-panel doors within a wooden case that includes pilasters, roundels, and a mutular cornice.

Inside, there is a fine early 18th-century mantel and cupboard that are richly decorated, featuring a quarter-domed head with shell ornamentation. No 5, which is early 19th-century, is also two stories tall, made of red brick with a lower pitch of pantiles. It has a flush frame sash window on the first floor, right, with glazing bars, and a ground floor that includes a flush frame sash window on the left and a shop front with glazing bars and a wooden case with channelled pilasters.

Nos 1, 3A, and 3 form a group with No 2 Lower Olland Street and No 56 St Mary's Street.
