Description
The King's Head Inn is a late 15th century to early 16th century, two-storey, timber-framed building located on Market Hill. It has modern roughcast and tiled roofing. The windows and doors facing Market Hill are tendered, except for a fragment of a four-centred carved arch. The Seckford Street front features half-timbering and plastering, with part of the building overhanging and a small shop front. There are five contemporary carved heads beneath a bracketed window, and some original narrow mullion windows remain at the front. Inside, there is a large room on the first floor with arched tie-beams, and on the ground floor, an early four-centred arched fireplace beam with carved spandrels. All listed buildings in Market Hill form a group around The Shire Hall.
