Description

The Cross Inn is a building of uncertain early origin, though it is believed to be older than the modern dating of 1652. It is a two-storey and attic building with a leaded casement dormer window. The building has a timber frame construction and is covered in roughcast. Early 19th-century pilasters flank the door, complemented by a frieze and cornice. The frontages extend to both Church Street and Thorofare, featuring three sash windows with glazing bars and flush frames on the Church Street side. On the ground floor, there is a single window to the left of the entrance, and a wine shop is present on the splayed corner with a wooden case. The roof is tiled with a hipped corner. The building forms a group with Nos. 2 to 30 (even) on Church Street.
