Description
The Boat, a former inn, is a building dating from around 1530. It is two storeys high with an attic and features three gabled dormers. The left-hand end has a brick chimney with an original moulded base. The building has three windows, including one early mullion transom and one sash window with a flush frame and thick glazing bars. The door is modern, and the exterior is timber framed with modern roughcast. The roof is covered with tiles and has slate eaves courses. Originally, the building was plastered in panels, some of which still remain at the rear. There is a six-panel wooden door in a case and small casement windows at the ground floor. Notably, there is original carved detailing under the eaves at the rear, featuring two small panels with the initials "2b2" above "'I+'" flanked by two leaves.
