Description

A terrace of four estate cottages dated 1878, marked with a stone plaque displaying the coat of arms of Sir Richard Wallace. The cottages are one of several similar examples in Orford and are constructed of red brick with a plain tiled roof. They are one storey and have an attic. Each cottage has four windows, each with three-light casements featuring mullions and transoms, set within pointed brick arches. The entrance doors are four-panelled with diagonal boarding. Four dormers are present, each with a casement window, a pointed brick arch, fretted barge boards, and tile hanging to the sides. The buildings are included on the register for their group value and their association with Sir Richard Wallace, a benefactor of the town and known for the Wallace Collection.
