Description
Gazeley Gate is a timber-framed and plastered house with mainly 18th century and 19th century external features, renovated in the 20th century. The west end contains an older section of one storey and attics, possibly dating from the 16th or 17th century. It is believed to have served as the ford keeper's house until the time of Cromwell. A later block was added at the east end in the 18th or early 19th century when it became a farmhouse. The building has two storeys, with a three-window range on the south front and a one-window range on the east. It features various windows, mostly leaded casements, some with Gothic arched heads. The roof is tiled, with two gabled dormers on the west end and a large central chimney stack on the east block.
