Description

The Oaklands is a Wealden house with a later cross wing added to the north-west end, and altered between the 16th and 17th centuries and subsequently. The cross wing has a jettied upper storey supported by curved brackets, with traces of moulded capitals. The gable above is also jettied on curved brackets, featuring a bressummer carved with an oak leaf pattern. The windows are casement windows with old leaded lights; the ground storey windows have panelled shutters. The roof is tiled, with wide, overhanging eaves to the main block supported by curved brackets, and a central square chimney stack.
