Description
Stanstead Hall is a red brick house dating from the 16th to 17th century, which has retained its original appearance despite significant alterations and renovations in the 19th and 20th centuries. Some of the brickwork is original. The building features a wing that extends to the north and is two storeys high. The south front has a symmetrical arrangement of three windows, while the east and west fronts each have two windows. The windows are 2 and 3-light casements from the 20th century, adorned with square hood moulds. The central section of the south front, which has one window, projects forward and includes a two-storey porch topped with a Dutch gable. There are additional Dutch gables flanking the porch, and both the east and west fronts also feature two Dutch gables. A raised brick dentilled band runs across the east, west, and south fronts between the storeys. The roof is double-pitched and includes two original chimney stacks with four grouped octagonal shafts, which have likely been rebuilt. The north wing has a chimney stack with two octagonal shafts.
