Description
Nos 14 and 14A on High Street is a medieval timber-framed building that was refronted in the 18th century with red brick. It features a plastered parapet and a wooden modillion cornice, and has a tiled roof that is hipped at both the north and south ends. The building is two storeys tall and has cellars.
The facade includes a six-window range, arranged in a 1:5 grouping, with double-hung sash windows that have single vertical glazing bars in flush cased frames. On the ground floor, there is a former 19th-century small shop window with glazing bars at the south end, and a splayed bay at the north end. The entrance features a six-panel door with a semi-circular fanlight that has ornamental glazing, set within a wooden doorcase that has deep reveals, panelled pilasters, and an open pediment. Another doorway to the south has a moulded architrave, ornamental frieze, and cornice.
At the rear, there are gables, and the interior includes an 18th-century staircase.
