Description

The Old Cottage is a timber-framed and plastered building with a thatched roof, located in Brent Eleigh. Originally constructed as a hall house between the 15th and 16th centuries, a floor was inserted in the 16th century. The solar, or principal living area, was likely situated at the south-east end. The building is one storey high with attics. It features casement windows and boarded doors. A gabled dormer is visible on the front, and an internal chimney stack is present with attached shafts. The interior retains exposed timber-framing.
