Description

Colman's Cottages is a range of six almshouses built in the 18th century. Constructed from red brick, the building features a moulded brick eaves cornice and a central pediment that has a carved tablet inscribed with "These almshouses were built and endowed by Mr Edward Colman youngest son of Robert Colman of this Parish, gent. Anno Domini 1731." The roofs are tiled, and the structure stands two storeys high. The front has a window arrangement of four:four:four casements, each with segmental arched heads and leaded lights. At the north-west and south-east ends, there are pairs of blocked window openings. The doorways are topped with tiled hoods and wood cornices. A low brick wall with bull nose coping protects the front of the almshouses.
