Description

Highbank is a timber-framed and plastered building with a cross wing at the north-west end. It was originally a medieval hall house, with a floor inserted in the 16th to 17th century. The building has one storey and attics, along with a two-storey cross wing that jetties on the upper storey. The roof is tiled on the cross wing and thatched on the main block. The windows are modern casements. Inside, there is exposed timber-framing, including a stop splayed joint with undercut butts to the wall plate, which may date from the 14th century or earlier. Additionally, there is a single-storey thatched outbuilding extending at the south-east end.
