Description
Hawkins Farmhouse is a timber-framed and plastered building that was refronted in gault brick during the late 18th century or early 19th century. The house consists of three sections. The central part has medieval origins and was originally roofed at right angles to the current front. At the south end, there is an addition that is likely from the 16th century, which is built adjacent to the original house but is structurally separate. The north end features a later addition, probably from the 17th century. The farmhouse is two storeys high and has a front with three window ranges, featuring double-hung sashes with glazing bars that are five panes wide. The roof is tiled and has two ridge chimney stacks. Inside, there are exposed heavy closely spaced ceiling beams and joists, along with several original window openings that include grooves for shutters.
