Description
The Old Rectory is a large house with origins dating from the 16th to 17th centuries. It features a mix of timber framing and plaster, along with sections faced in colourwashed brick. The house underwent significant refacing or rebuilding in the 18th and 19th centuries. The original structure appears to have been designed in an L-shaped plan, with wings extending to the west and north, and a later 18th-century block added at the angle, featuring gables on both the west and north sides. The building has two storeys and attics. Most windows are double-hung sashes with glazing bars, and the south and east fronts include 18th or early 19th-century splayed bay windows. The roofs are tiled, and there are two original chimney stacks with four grouped octagonal shafts on square bases on the north wing, as well as one original stack with two octagonal shafts featuring moulded caps and bases on the west wing.
